Tecno Spark K7 vs Tecno Spark Plus K9

Tecno Spark series of smartphones are youth-focused entry level devices with notably iconic and sleek body design, they come with basic and mid-range features to resonate with their moderate price tags.

Tecno Spark K7 and Tecno Spark Plus K9 are the first Tecno Spark phones to debut in Nigeria, the two phones comes in four various colors; Phantom Black, Metallic Red, Champagne Gold and Coral Blue.

While they both have the same display resolution, the Spark Plus K9 has a bigger screen size but is this the only difference between them? We will find out in this article.

Tecno Spark K7 and Spark Plus K9 Features Overview
Display

Spark K7 has a HD screen that measures 5.5 inches diagonally, display quality is set at 720 by 1280 pixels with 267 PPI. The Spark Plus K9 has a bigger screen of 6.0 inches with the same 720 by 1280 with diminished Pixels Per-square Inch of 254.

The available screen resolution is not bad for an entry-level device with approachable price tag, the display won’t be distorted in any way and will serve well for video streaming and gaming purposes.

Memory And OS

The Spark Plus K9 has the upper hand in terms of RAM, it has a comfortable 2GB of RAM while the Spark K7 uses 1GB RAM. For internal storage space, they both sport the same 16GB ROM with an option to expand with a micro SD card up to 32GB.

Android 7.0 Nougat is pre-installed on the two devices with HiOS 2.0 skin on top, the HiOS interface is said to deliver fluid multi-tasking experience like never seen before.

Tecno Spark Plus K9 has an Octa-core processor that clocks at 1.5 GHz and a Mediatek chipset, the Spark K7 packs the same Octa-core CPU but with smaller running speed of 1.3 GHz. The later uses the same Mediatek chipset with Mali T720 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

Though these processors are not the best in terms of performance, they will probably good enough to give you a seamless phone usage, coupled with the HiOS (based on Android 7.0 Nougat) the phones came with.

Camera

The two phones are equipped with the same 13 megapixels camera at the back and 5 megapixels camera upfront, the rear camera comes with HDR, autofocus, Geo-tagging and face detection features.

There is also a single LED flash available for both the front and back cameras to help boost image quality in low light conditions, giving you a great imaging experience. In some cases, the front LED flash can also be used as notification light.

Tecno Spark K7
Battery Capacity

The Spark Plus K9 hosts a slightly beefed up battery juice of 3400 mAh, though the difference is not all that significant but it is worth noting. Tecno Spark K7 carries a sufficient 3000 mAh battery in the powerhouse.

The battery capacity in the two Tecno spark devices will offer good talk-time as well as good stand by time, their is no fast charging technology available on the phones.

Other Features

Tecno Spark K7 and Spark Plus K9 has a back-mounted fingerprint scanner which will provide more secured unlocking system for the phones (see more Android phones with fingerprint scanner). They are dual SIM smartphones with dual standby and supports 4G network option.

The tecno Spark phones have sleek body with dimension of 153 by 76.4 by 7.9 mm for the Spark K7 and 162 by 82.6 by 7.5 mm for the Spark Plus K9. The Tecno K7 weighs approximately 102 gram  while the Spark Plus K9 weigh roughly 115 gram.

Conclusion
Both the Tecno Spark K7 and Tecno Spark K9 are good Android smartphones in the mid-range category, they have a somewhat alluring body design and coming with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat is an additional advantage.

The Spark K9 is the definitely the better device here when you consider specs, it was better in four major areas which includes; bigger screen size, slightly bigger battery capacity, faster processor speed and more efficient RAM.

Even though both are budget-friendly phones, Tecno Spark Plus K9 will definitely cost more than the Spark K7. With their prices in question, the Spark K7 will be a great choice if you’re not a heavy user and/or you prefer smaller screens.
